Tagging your caravan with an electronic device greatly improves the chances of a successful recovery and acts a strong deterrent to potential thieves. Police encourage the use of this security method and are able to use scanners to identify uniquely tagged caravans and check them against a database of registered caravans.
For added security - as with the Stoptheft system - tags are hidden in random locations within the interior and exterior of the vehicle - making it much harder for thieves to find and remove them and affecting the professional caravan thief's ability to sell the vehicle. All caravans manufactured in the UK since August 1998 are electronically tagged.
