Caravan awnings |

If you're looking to boost the living space in and around your caravan, an awning is the answer.
Essentially a tent attachment that fits to the exterior of your caravan, an awning provides the solution to a number of caravan issues. Need somewhere to store muddy bikes? A larger dining area? Maybe you'd like somewhere cool to bed down on those hot midsummer nights? Awnings are ideal in all situations.
Measuring Up
Available in all shapes and sizes, you are sure to find something that will suit your taste and your caravan. To measure your caravan up for a suitable awning (measurements should be in the handbook if you've bought a new caravan), thread a piece of string through your caravan's awning channel making sure it just touches the ground at both end. For this purpose, you need your caravan to be on even ground.
Mark on the string where it meets the ground, then measure mark to mark. This distance, in centimetres, is the size of awning that you will require.
Awnings can be made out of one of several materials, though most tend to be made from either polyester or acrylic - tough materials that can withstand the elements and provide stability.
Awning carpets or groundsheets, provide some protection for you and your pitch. They don't all, however, allow grass to breathe - so it's a good idea to lift it when not in use.
Awnings are also available for use with motorhomes and campervans. See our caravan accessories section for details on where you can buy them.
